: "Narrow band frequency analysis, cepstral analysis, and a frequency spectrum analysis of the high frequency vibration envelope
: extracted with a band pass filter, are traditional methods for gearing analysis." In the Article of Dr. Alexej V. Barkov, Dr. Natalia A. Barkova,

: sorry, but what does the word "cepstral" mean?
Cepstral refers to the Cepstrum, which ws originally defined as the power spectrum of the logarithmic power spectrum. The cepstrum is mostly used to find periodic structures, i. e. families of uniformly spaced harmonics and/or side-bands. This can be useful in finding faults in gearboxes and rolling element bearings.
: secondly,
: Is there a free software which i can gather the data and gragh from a Vibration detection device through its centronics port to the parallel port of a PC?
: and then do further analysis?
None that I know of.
